Calling your favorite photo!!! | Falls Church VA family photographer

I have a heard a wimpering the past few weeks and finally realized it was coming from my blog. It was softly saying “feed me” and it finally screamed it today. So here is a long overdue post. I always need a few weeks to recover from the Fall busy season. This one was record setting, so I took a week (or three) longer than usual. I am getting so organized for the upcoming year (many thanks to my fav person, Mrs. CS!!) So I am busting with new ideas, scouting out new locations and shopping around for the best way to display your favorite photos! So stay tuned!!
IN THE MEANTIME….I am having my first ever ” 2011 Photo of the Year Contest” So I am perusing my client files before I archive them and choosing my favorites. The winner will receive a 16×20 canvas of that image, so with that in mind I am open to your suggestions. If you want a certain image included in the contest, just comment here, email me or message me on facebook.
I will be selecting the images in the next day or so, so HURRY!!!
I grabbed my little hipster today and snapped a few pics. We are all (yes, all 5 of us) are recovering from the stomach flu, so the other kids were not into having their photo taken, but HL did a great job of letting me do a 5 minute photo session.

Paying it Forward

Sometimes life is just coasting along…sure, you complain here and there, but overall…its good. Life is good and then that curve ball comes, or in this case life came to a screeching halt. My dear friend heard that screeching sound louder than anyone in my circle has in a long time. All I can say is that this event would derail many, she is handling it like a champ. I am certain the most difficult part is being apart from the men in her life…her “good people” husband and sweet little man J. While my friend heals in a rehab facility, her men are doing what they do each day, surviving and missing her. They, of course, are doing awesome. Dad is handling ALL of the duties with grace and making sure little man J feels extra loved while going through this separation. While there today, I was in awe. Dad is a cool cat, truly handling it all.
When I received the news, my whole thinking was adjusted. I think I needed the adjustment, I was moving too fast. I am just so sorry that my dear friend was hurting so much. There I sat, kind of numb really, thinking what can I do. If you know me, I really don’t cook well. I cook fine, but not in a “wow, let’s go to Jen Burns House for dinner” good. So I didn’t really want to bring food. As I wondered what I could do, all I could think about was my friend not seeing her family everyday for weeks. So I do what I do, picked up my camera and wanted to get her some photos. Its what I know. Photos are apart of me, every photo session I do has at least one photo that brings a tear of joy to my eye…yup, I am a sap. I think this is why I love what I do. This is part one of this session, I am looking to part two, when my friend is back home, running and jumping with her little sweetie.
Friend, I love you. I pray for you everyday. You constantly impress me with your strength and your beauty, inside and out. I hope these photos bring you even an ounce more than you had yesterday.

My Love | child photographer northern virginia

That’s my girl, beautiful. I seriously think my E is such a cool kid. I truly enjoy her company. I mean, of course I love her…I am her mom. I would do anything for any of my kids. But watching E become a big kid is awesome. She is so much fun, so smart, sassy as can be and truly a kind person, oh and she has become an amazing cuddler! E, I love you and the best part is that I really like you. Thank you for giving this journey into motherhood such a great start!
As I ease out of pure craziness and ease back into having some time…I look for images I may have missed of mine…this was one. My heart melted when I looked at it again, so of course I bought a canvas. Love her.

Anonymous says: Looks like the voting system is broken....or someone is so desperate for a Gallery Wrapped Canvas that they deliberately fixed it such that all votes now go to the photo with over 1000 votes (that's just sad). on 01.24.12 @ 10:12 am
Claudia says: Jennifer, I follow five to seven outstanding photographers across the U.S. You are one of the photographers I added about a year ago. You are to be congratulated for your outstanding work. Your choice of settings and use of props is creative, interesting, and thoughtful. The props and the settings enhance and add to the moment but they do not overwhelm. The families, children, teens remain the focus. Wherever, did you get the green truck - excellent and the use of brick, flowers, fields, interiors of homes - well done - very well done. Your clients and your geographic location are fortunate to have your talent. Congratulations on 01.24.12 @ 12:30 pm
