I just returned from my beach vacation and feel oh so relaxed! It was a true vacation in that I didn’t even unpack my camera! Luckily, we had some family photos taken by another photographer, so at least we will have some documentation of our trip! I felt so guilty not capturing my own kids in the sun, surf and sand, but I think we all needed a break from the camera
We had a great time and its good to be back. I have many sessions to edit, promotions to post and a booked next few months…my oh my!
I met this beautiful mama after she booked me to take her engagement photos. It was so fun seeing just how a camera can love someone. I was delighted to find out that the honeymoon treated her well and she was pregnant! Taking her maternity photos was a must, I just knew they would be so much fun! I cannot wait to meet the baby in a few weeks! Here’s to a “comfortable” next few weeks and a blissful birth….

I have to remind myself to stop and smell the flowers. When I am stressed over babysitters being late, getting ready for a trip or just general backlog, I tell myself that I need to stop…and smell the flowers. Its just not worth getting in a tizzy. This family helped me do that this morning. I was brimming with stress and one look at this adorable family brought me down and back to center. Could they be anymore photogenic? Enjoy, rest will follow soon!!!

What a gorgeous weekend we have had! The weather was stunning, perfect temps, beautiful blue skies and fun! I was able to photograph Mr. W again! He is three, the first time we met he was 3 months old! I get that kids grow, but holy cow! This little guy has changed so much. His exclamations are die for. So fun to have watched him change so much! Its so fun watching the parents of this little one, as they have such adoration for one another, hence all the kissing. I told them they are my kissing couple and I love it! Thanks for inviting me out to beautiful Meadowlark Gardens to play with you all!!

Does anyone remember the toast at the end of the movie, “Things to do in Denver when you are Dead”? “Gentleman, we have boatdrinks” Did anyone else see the movie? Its a great movie and l have always loved that toast. I suppose I saw it because I lived in Denver at the time and I believe my good friend Bryan worked on the film….Okay, so no boatdrinks. However, hanging out at one of my favorite locations this morning sure made me want one! The water, the canoes, the incredible patio…..ahhhh. Today could not be more beautiful! The color and texture of this little spot in Georgetown made this pregnant lady want an umbrella drink…it will have to wait until August, but the countdown is on!
This beautiful family was a blast to photograph. They had outfit changes for little Ms. S and all three were such a joy to be around! Thank you for having me capture this special time in your life! Enjoy the sneak peek, the rest will follow soon!

The past few weeks have been rather intense. Selling our home, looking for a new one, losing out on some contracts and then FINALLY finding our home (which by the way feels like it was built for my family!!). Packing and moving is a whole other story when a family is involved. Gone are the days when I can throw my things into the back of my car. Here to stay is packing up three people plus me (the next time we move, which I hope is NEVER there will be an entire other person). Also, did i mention that I am 6 months pregnant? Oh yes, that…..
So my life is full of blessings, yes, but getting to this point of LOVING my new home and finally feeling like we have enough space to breathe…took some doing. During this move, my recent maternity client had her beautiful little girl, baby “L”. She is going to be as gorgeous as her mother…unstoppable, those two. This little one was wide awake during the entire session, but clearly she wanted to show off her beautiful eyes and lips! Enjoy!

This is what I consider our first Spring weekend. The weather is beautiful, the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom and everyone is in a good mood! Love it. I am always a little too bold with my clothing choices during the early weeks of Spring, I immediately want to be in summer clothes and my reefs…this morning was a little too cold for those choices! That is okay, we survived…not sure if the cute “F” family did, their little boy was shivering…but it didn’t show in their photos. I love the tough guy look that boy boys gave in the family shot and then just how quickly they both became mama boys when they were with her…love it. Enjoy “F” family, I will have more to come soon!

It is so much fun to watch my clients grow! I took this little guys newborn photos and now he is already one! He has had quite the year! It looks to me as if he is going to bypass walking and go straight to running. This time I also got to include big brother “W”. Mom said I was up for a challenge, as the he is oil to the camera that is water….he did give me some challenges, but I am certain we are now fast friends. I look forward to documenting the coming years of these two little guys and their gorgeous parents! Enjoy “F” family!

I have met this gorgeous mama a few times and was thrilled when she asked me to document this very important stage in her life. Pregnancy is beautiful and on this lady, its hot! “K” exudes self-confidence, and she is the kind of girl you just want as your BFF. She is funny, gorgeous and talented. I knew she was a fantastic singer, but had no idea the gal can write also! So future baby of the Ms. K, you are one lucky girl! Your mama is one of the those moms you will look at later in life and be like “wow!” my mom is cool!
I love, love doing maternity sessions and I can’t scream it from the rooftops any louder, this is such a cool time to be photographed! You may only look like this once, so have the photographs taken. Even if they just end up in your personal diary, its a time to look back and remember just how cool the miracle of life is! I had my photos taken with my daughter and some snapshots taken with my son and I am planning to REALLY document this pregnancy with a couple maternity shoots (thank you Facebook for pairing me up with awesome photogs!!) and the birth of this little baby will be photographed also! So fun! So I encourage you to have this done, don’t be shy…if only you could see all of the images from tonights session, Ms. K wasn’t shy, and we had a blast…the best part, she will cherish these forever!

I am asked more and more often for help when clients are choosing their prints from a session. My latest comment from people is “I wish I would have ordered the print larger”. We are under an impression that 8×10 and 11×14 are enlargements. When you really receive your “enlarged” 8×10, you realize just how small it really is. The other assumption that people have is that you can’t go large with a photograph (or a painting) in a small home. If you look at the above photo (this is my home) you will see a 30×45in canvas (divided into three panels) as a focal point in my room. I have a 1000sq ft home, so “small” it is. I get more compliments on this canvas and the impact it has in my little house than anything else I have ever displayed. Its clean, simple and draws the visitor’s eye. So don’t be afraid, if you have a photo that you love love love, order it big.

I will recommend which photos make for great canvases. Something this large is not inexpensive, so I do recommend going with what I call a “timeless” photograph. My children are wearing simple clothing, looking away from the camera and enjoying a moment in time. Have you ever watched any of the gazillion home improvement shows and paid attention to how they display their photos? My favorite for this example is Extreme Home Makeover. 9/10 times the designers say “We found these old photographs and blew them up to 16×20 or 24×36 to create a memorable impact” I pulled an image from on of their makeovers….see below
So don’t be afraid, if you love the photos…go for it! I am always happy to consult in your home during an ordering session.

I was honored with JoAnne of Pink Confetti Kidz contacted me to photograph some of her new line for Spring. I was even more honored that she was SOOOOOO incredibly patient in waiting for this snow to melt so I could get these taken! Pink Confetti Kidz use of fabric and colors keep the spirited little girl in mind. Her craftmanship is fantastic as well. I highly recommend you check out her online store. My little model loves all the clothes, it doesn’t hurt that she has a love for animals and cake…so the owl dress and birthday shirt were hits!
